Viking River Cruise has just announced their expansion with eight new vessels, bringing their total fleet to 26.
As part of a three-year expansion programme worth US$250 million, the cruise provider hopes to increase its capacity by 40 per cent.
Company chairman Torstein Hagen would like to see river cruising become part of mainstream travel.
"We believe that river cruising is still in its infancy, and has tremendous growth potential," he remarked.
"This multi-year fleet development programme reinforces Viking’s commitment to our guests, to our travel agent partners and to an industry that will continue its double-digit growth for years to come."
