An Atlantic bottlenose dolphin called ‘Winter’ is set to capture viewers' hearts and generate tourism in the critter's adopted hometown of Clearwater, Florida.
Winter was rescued in 2005 after losing its tail when it became entangled in a crab trap. The dolphin was then fitted with a series of prosthetic replacements at its new home, the nonprofit Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
The dolphin has gone on to become a Hollywood star and its debut movie is out tomorrow on general release. Dolphin Tale, a 3-D movie filmed on location, stars Winter, Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd.
The aquarium is launching a $12.5 million expansion and opening a Dolphin Tale exhibit in downtown Clearwater in November, and area hotels and restaurants are offering tie-ins.
"We expect a tremendous impact from the movie," says aquarium CEO David Yates. "We're already feeling it with record attendance this summer, and the film (hadn't) opened yet."

One of the things that impressed me the most about this film was the high quality animation/CG work, this is probably what made the movie special for me and my kids. Also, the story line was definitely different in a good way and I kind of like the message at the end. In all, a movie you and your kids will enjoy, mine did. Do not make the mistake of comparing this movie...
